Nota d'usoIl verbo italiano arrivare non va sempre tradotto in inglese con to arrive. Ad esempio, per dire Sto arrivando si usa il verbo to come: Non preoccuparti, sto arrivando, don't worry, I'm coming. Di regola, to arrive nei tempi progressivi deve essere seguito da un'indicazione di tempo o di luogo: Stava arrivando alla stazione, she was arriving at the station. Davanti a un nome di città o nazione arrivare a si traduce in genere con to arrive in: Arrivammo a Roma in treno, we arrived in Rome by train; Quando siete arrivati in Italia?, when did you arrive in Italy?Negli altri casi, anche quelli figurati, la preposizione usata di norma è at: Arriveremo all'aeroporto [al museo] fra circa un'ora, we will arrive at the airport [at the museum] in about an hour; Siete arrivati a una decisione?, have you arrived at a decision? -
